Captain

At the airport, the captain is the pilot of the airplane. The captain of the plane is in charge of flying the airplane, which takes you to your destiny.  In church, I believe several people represent the captain, only if for a season. The first person is the Pastor.  You must be committed to God and connected to leadership to reach your destiny.  You see the Pastor is your voice of God. Jeremiah 3:15 states And I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.  Romans 10:17 states so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  Rom 10:14 states and how shall they hear without a preacher?  Hebrews 10:25 states not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some.  In 2 Chronicles 20:20 states: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.   See how important your Pastor (Captain) is.  At first, he is the one that is flying you to your destination (through the word of God). Now you are truly committed to God and connected to leadership.  Committed to God is that you have a heart that you are here in the kingdom of God for the rest of your life.  You have to get like Paul when he said in Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. You can’t be truly committed to God and not connected to leadership.  A person that is committed is obedient to God’s word. In Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.  Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. In 1 Samuel 15:22 states Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, Some people never receive the person in the position of Pastor.  They come on Sundays hear him or her but never move out on what they say.  They get with other members and asked, what do you think about what the Pastor So and So said?  The Pastor is just the messenger—the question should be what do you think about what God is saying?   There should be some instructions coming over that pulpit that will eventually get you in the will of God for your life.  Many people come to church but for different reasons.  Some out of fear, tradition, looking for a spouse, they are in some type of trouble, tradition, etc.  Some come and they come just to dispute what was said.  As long as the Pastor (whether it be male or female) is coming from the word of God – you should not dispute it. In Mark 9:23 it states Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." The second person I believe is the Captain is you.  As you mature in Christ, there should come a time when you must take responsibility of your destiny, by maturing in the word of God.  When you develop that relationship with God through reading his word, spending time with him you will become a Son (Daughter) of God. You move from a babe that has to be fed and has to be driven everywhere.  Now you come to a position where you still need your Pastor but some of the things that your Pastor is saying over the pulpit will be confirmation of the word of God.
