Boarding Pass

Before you leave the ticket counter you will receive your boarding pass.  This boarding pass is what will allow you to travel. We receive the location and directions from the airline attendant to the gate where we will board our plane. We receive that boarding pass, and most of us run or quickly travel to that designated gate.  I rarely see people receive their boarding pass at the airport and then go sit down in the waiting area near the check in counter.   No, they know they are on a journey and this part of their journey requires an airplane.  They don’t want to miss their flight, so even if they arrive at the airport early and have hours before their flight departs, most travelers at least go to their gates or near the vicinity of their gates.  In church, when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He becomes your boarding pass.  Some of us receive our boarding pass (Jesus) with directions and then we go sit down near the counter.  Some of us don’t even make it to the gate.  Some of us receive our boarding pass, which is Jesus, and then we leave the church.  We leave the church, because someone looked at you wrong; stepped on your toe; hurt your feelings.  We leave the church, because the Pastor said something we didn’t like.  We leave the church, because the choir did not sing our favorite song.  Those of us that go sit down, we sit down and we watch others receive their boarding pass.  We watch them leave and head to their designated gate. This gate represents a ministry, a calling on your life, your purpose, the will of God for your life, etc. We sit in that lobby for days, weeks, months, and years, and become bitter because we let hesitation, procrastination, abomination, etc interrupt our journey.  For those of us that remain focused, we actually leave the ticket counter (lobby area) and head toward our assigned gate (ministry) with our boarding pass.
