Porters
The porters on the outside of the airport assist us with our bags to the airline counter. The porters on the outside of the church assist us with our bags. Now when we are at the airport and the porter outside the airport asks us if he can assist us with our bags, I used to hesitate, because I didn’t know how much that would cost me. When he was asking me if he could help me with my bags, in my mind, I would say, “Well how much will this cost me?” As I became a travel expert, I realized porters are good. I could give them my bags. It will not cost me a thing, but I can voluntarily give them a tip. When I gave the porter my bags, I began to make excuses as to why my bags were so heavy. I was happy he was carrying my bags, but sad too when I thought about the fact that he was going to have to put a back brace on or take a day off from work after lifting my bags. In the Kingdom of God, they show us the love of God, as they assist us with getting inside the church. They show us where to park our cars and assist us with our bags and children. Sometimes, we can be a little resistant at church. But, at the church, we need to have the same attitude with the Porters when they ask us for our bags, as we do with the porters at the airport. If we don’t need assistance with our bags, just smile and say No thank you!
