3 Types of Christians
As a Christian, there must be a difference in our day to day life. People must notice it. We shouldn’t be carrying around banners in the natural realm that read: “I am a Christian”. But in your day to day walk, the people around you should see it in everything you do and say.
There are three types of Christians in the Kingdom of God. We must be honest with ourselves by locating where we are. God already knows where you are, but He also knows what He created you to be and to do. I believe that you can only fulfill His purpose for your life when you move in to the position of a Daughter. Let me share with you the three types so you can locate where you are. 1 Corinthians 3:1 states: “And I brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?”
Here we have three types; the Spiritual, the carnal, and the babes in Christ. Let’s look closer at each type.
Babes in Christ –This person is a new Christian. They have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. What do babies in the natural realm do? They eat, sleep, and poop. They don’t know how to talk or walk. They don’t know how to dress themselves. They don’t know how to feed themselves. They don’t know what is good for them and what is bad for them. Well the same is true in the Kingdom of God. No one comes into the Kingdom of God as a Daughter. We all have to be fed, dressed, taught, trained, and developed. Babies whine in the natural, and therefore in the spirit they do the same thing. Why do I have to come to church every Sunday and midweek service? Why can’t I wear that anymore? Why can’t I continue to smoke, go to the club, drink, curse people out, and fight? Why do I have to sit here? Why is the Pastor talking only to me on Sundays? Why is the Pastor talking about me every Sunday? As a Babe in Christ, you have to be delivered and developed and matured into the things of God. It is apparent that you are at church to receive the Word from God at a minimum of twice a week. You also should start praying to God and spending time with God everyday – not just when you are at church. It is sad, but you can be a Christian for twenty years and still be in this category if you have refused to let the Word of God become your final authority.
If you have identified yourself as a Babe in Christ, Say/Confess this prayer with me.
Father, I thank You for showing me exactly where I am. I now see myself and understand where I am and that I have been a Babe in Christ. I no longer want to be that way. I repent for all of the negative thoughts, crazy looks, and negative words that I may have said, thought, and displayed. Father, I will be diligent to present myself approved to You, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I will shun profane and idle babblings, for I understand they will increase to more ungodliness. Father, I will trust You with all my heart and I will not lean to my own understanding, in all my ways I will acknowledge You and I know you shall direct my path. Father, I will serve You with all of my heart and my soul, with a perfect heart and a willing mind, with gladness and with a newness of spirit and I will serve You in truth. I thank you Father that You are God that You cannot lie and You stand over Your Word to perform it in my life. Father, give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; Indeed I shall observe it with my whole heart. Father, I understand Your Word shall not depart from my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous, and then I will have good success. I also understand that No one having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of God; therefore, I have taken on the attitude of Paul: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Father, I give You all the praise, honor, and the glory. This is my prayer in Your Son Jesus’ name, Amen.
Carnal Christians – This person is someone whom has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, but has not let the Word become their final authority. Romans 8:6-8 states For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, now indeed can be. So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God. I have met many Carnal Christians. They are an enemy of God, yet they called themselves a Christian. They believe in God, but hate God’s laws and His rules. To believe in God is not enough. James 2:19 states even the demons believe –and tremble. It’s not just enough to hear and believe in the word; you must become a doer of the Word. You can see this through their actions and their speech. You are either for God or you are against Him. The Porter/Usher at church can ask a Babe in Christ to sit here when they are seating the congregation and the Babe in Christ will ask questions, but they will let you seat them. The Carnal Christian will tell you off and/or go in the opposite direction. Carnal Christians still smoke and drink. They believe on Sundays at church and may act saved for those two to three hours that day, but the rest of the week they look like a sinner, and sometimes maybe even an atheist. Romans 14:21 states it is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. The Carnal Christian or Carnal-Minded Christian does that. They really bring great discredit and discomfort to the Body of Christ. Not only are they stumbling; they cause everyone they come in contact with to stumble if that person is not a Daughter of God. They don’t just stumble; they fall and decide not to get up. Or they get up and become very bitter and judgmental of everyone else, because of what they did and/or are still doing. This person needs to let the Word of God become their Final Authority and start living the Word every day of their lives.
Father, I thank You for showing me exactly where I am. I now see myself and understand where I am and that I have been a Carnal Christian or Carnal Minded Christian. I no longer want to be that way. I repent for all of sins and especially my sins against authority. I understand that I present my body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is my reasonable service. I will not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. I understand that Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. I submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the leaders you have placed over me, my supervisor on my job any governmental authority. I thank you Father that you area God that cannot lie and You stand over Your Word to perform it in my life.
Spiritual (Daughter of God) – This person has accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and through time, faith, experiences, afflictions, and testimonies; she has been developed into a Daughter of God. Romans 8:24 states For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. This person is not by any means perfect as we know it—but she is mature. She makes mistakes just like everyone. She stumbles, but she knows how to get back up; repents and move on. She has decided that God’s Word is her Final Authority. She doesn’t just hear the Word but she does the Word. She has learned to deal with people according to knowledge. They know how to identify people quickly and deal with them accordingly. This person understands that God is love and because she was made in the image of God she is love. This person walks in the sprit of love. This person is committed to God and connected to Leadership. This person is serving God in the house (church building) and is faithful to God and the leaders He has placed over her. This person understands she does not need a title or a position to be important in the Kingdom of God. She also understands that even if she does not have a pulpit in the church she has many outside the church-at her job; in the community; in the grocery store; the cleaners—everywhere she goes. A Daughter of God understands that she is a representation of God and his Kingdom in everything she does, she says, she wears, she eats, she drinks, and understand that this is her reasonable service. If you have identified yourself as a Daughter of God, Say/Confess this prayer with me
Father, I thank You for showing me exactly where I am. I now see myself and understand where I am and that I am Your Daughter. I understand that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; even as a Daughter. I understand by Your grace, I am who I am and Your grace towards me was not in vain. I understand that I am not to think more highly of my self than I ought to think. For in You I move and have my very being. I thank You Father that You are a God that cannot lie and You stand over Your Word to perform it in my life. Father, I give you all the praise, honor, and the glory. This is my prayer in your Son Jesus’ name, Amen.
